First volume of a popular series, of which I might read more since some of my friends here love it. Tanpopo is a working class girl who uses "cram school" to get into rich kids' Meiô Academy. She's pretty clueless, at the start. But it seems she's a budding horticulturalist, so she starts up a gardening committee, which may or not help her popularity. She also carries around a fox everywhere. Maybe it's a little like that movie Pretty in Pink? Watase's art is really good, and it looks like a
Meh. Main character is a bit of a clueless, happy, girl who was smart enough to test her way into a school for the rich (think Host club meets Fruits basket sort of). It was okay. Debating reading the next one because it's not exactly gripping....yet.

This is just a cute and whimsical edging on the side of ridiculous story about a very happy-go-lucky girl who wants to see the best in those she calls her friends. She reminds me a little of Star Girl and has a pet fox. Her name is dandelion, and she is quite the dandy lion--fierce, loyal, and weird in an endearing way. I couldnt6stope myself from rereading this once I opened it up.
Oh, are my feelings mixed. The first chapter of this made me want to toss this, as Tanopo is so dumb and socially dense, while Koki is a mixed bag. It's filled with so many shojo tropes that if it was a drinking game you'd get alcohol poisoning. AND YET.It's Yuu Watase, and her art is adorable, plus she's amazing at drawing expressions that make me laugh. It's nice that the heroine has self confidence and a strong will, even if that will is wasted on dumb things, and at least we saw the nice
Beautuful.
It is so cute! I love it!

For Tanpopo Yamazaki, life at the elitist Meiô Academy seems way out of her league. The daughters of wealthy families snub her; other students make light of the fact that she actually tested into Meiô instead of relying on family connections, and the cute boy she saw tending a dandelion the day before wouldn't even acknowledge her existence. Hoping to make friends and have some fun, Tanpopo starts up a gardening committee, but will this help her survive in a school where superficiality and nepotism reign supreme? IMA DOKI follows the trials and tribulations of a budding horticulturist as she makes her way down the winding road to friendship. From Yû Watase, one of Japan's most beloved shô jo artists, IMA DOKI packs comedic charm and heartfelt antics into an adorable bouquet of whimsical fantasy.Particularize Books Concering Imadoki!: Nowadays, Vol. 1 (Imadoki!: Nowadays #1)

It's cute, but it doesn't give me that "Oh, I wanna read the next volume" feeling. It's just enough for me to laugh a little, and make me twitch a little. I mean, the protagonists are clearly gonna fall in love with each other (cliché themes on shōjo manga). And, given that this is a girl's manga, Yû Watase is clearly targeting the pre-teen to teen female demographic.Imadoki! (Nowadays) is a cute manga. But this being 1 out of 5 volumes only, I don't think its plot will be as impactful as "BoysFirst volume of a popular series, of which I might read more since some of my friends here love it.
