Interpretation To Books Morning's Refrain (Song of Alaska #2)
Phoebe Robbins quickly realizes that her life in Sitka, Alaska, will be a far cry from what she knew in the East. The weather seems to be constantly rainy, goods are often scarce, and there's little entertainment, save the small orchestra she joins. There are also plenty of men actively seeking a wife, but it is Dalton Lindquist--with his swarthy good looks--who is the most intriguing part of this isolated existence. Despite their unusual first encounter, Phoebe dares to hope that the spark she feels between them is returned in equal measure. When Yuri Belikov, Dalton's best friend, begins to pursue her, Phoebe finds herself in a precarious position. Did she misread Dalton's interest? How will her decision between the two men affect their friendship? And what of the long-buried secret in her own family's past? In the challenges ahead, Phoebe will learn of consequence and forgiveness...and the power of love.

Ugg...lost me when one of the characters ended his life because of his father's previous years ago issues, and then leaving his wife (AND TRUE LOVE!) and three children. Tsk tskI enjoyed catching up again with Lydia and Evie from and seeing Dolton all grown up. I enjoyed book 1 a bit more, I think mainly because there was a bit more suspense included in that one.Even though Dolton had questions about his past, you could clearly see the influence Lydia and Kjell had on him and contributing to the good man he was. Even though his courtship with Phoeboe were brief, I enjoyed how they didn't play games and knew what they wanted.Again, the characters had a few spiritual
Dalton, the secrets that surround him and his birth, to this day they still hush their conversations. His half sister, again the secrets and he is on the outside.

***4.5 stars***I really enjoyed reading Morning's Refrain, however I just feel like there was something missing. There was very little action and any conflict was resolved very easily. (view spoiler)[ I really thought Dalton would wrestle more with his family and their influence. I also thought his older brothers would cause more problems for Dalton and Evie since they weren't in prison and were making threats against them. That whole situation seemed to resolve very quickly. Which isn't
This wasn't really a bad book, and the storylines were pretty interesting, but I always tend to prefer a character-driven novel, and the characters in this book largely rubbed me the wrong way.First, Yuri's "good" character never was portrayed. So all I got of him was an annoying, prideful, I-want-my-way kind of guy. I didn't know why Phoebe liked him at all, (even as a friend) and I especially don't know why Dalton liked him. I would have appreciated if their childhood friendship had been
1889 Sitka, AKDalton and PhoebeI was intrigued with the setting in this book. I liked that it was set in Alaska, but it could have been in any time frame. There wasn't much in the book to remind me that it was the 1800s. I didn't feel much affection for the characters. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, so I thought maybe the evil brothers would follow Dalton back to AK for a confrontation. That didn't happen though. The ending was weak and boring.
Good Christian book including lots of information about Sitka Alaska.
