Representaion Toward Books The Terror of the Southlands (The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates #2)

Hilary Westfield is a pirate. In fact, she’s the Terror of the Southlands! She’s daring, brave, fearless, and . . . in a rut. Maybe she hasn’t found any treasure lately. And maybe she isn’t fighting off as many scallywags as she’d like. But does that mean she and her loyal crew (including a magical gargoyle) deserve to be kicked out of the ranks of the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates?

There is only one thing to do—find a daring mission worthy of her fearless reputation. With the help of first mate Charlie, finishing-school friend Claire, and the self-proclaimed intrepid gargoyle, Hilary sets sail on a swashbuckling expedition that may or may not involve a kidnapped Enchantress, bumbling inspectors, a mysterious group called the Mutineers, and—the most terrifying thing of all—a High Society ball.

Caroline Carlson brings just as much rollicking fun, laughter, and action to this second book of the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates as she did with the first, Magic Marks the Spot.

Judgment Of Books The Terror of the Southlands (The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates #2)
Light piratical fun as Hilary's adventures on the high seas continue. The strength of the plot and the level of the stakes both seem to slip a little, but the humor is still spot on.

Fun second installment in the series. Violet loved it; Luke got seriously annoyed at the audio book though on our long drive and was so happy when it was over :).

I found this, the second book, more fun and entertaining than the first. Maybe because the characters have already gelled, so the author was able to move the action forward much more quickly. Or maybe because the author was able to set up more layers of intrigue. Either way, I liked the second book more than the first.

This book was really good. I love these books and I can't wait to read book 3

Fun and frivolous

A charming sequel to Magic Marks the Spot, with just as much magic, hardtack, manners, unpiratical behavior, hilarious forms/letters/newspaper columns, and the always incredible gargoyle as featured in the first book. However, in this one, we have the added addition of a missing Enchantress who needs some rescuing, Hilary nearly getting kicked out the VNHLP, and some pirates who mostly deal in catering delicious food.A relevant quote:"I'm not very good at making friends, but I believe I'm quite

As theyre becoming, I think, increasingly popular, Im trending the other way. I found Magic Marks the Spot to be hilarious and full of adventure. Somehow, though, I didnt feel nearly as invested in this second book. Its some combination of my mood, my boredom with most middle grade, and the book itself. The Terror of the
