Commentary Toward Books The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank
I love Erma's books! While other kids were sneakily reading the latest issue of Batman or Archie & Veronica comic books between the pages of their schoolbooks during class I was trying not to get caught laughing too loudly at the pages of the latest book by humorist author Erma Bombeck. Its safe to say that I grew up with her books and her name, and stories, just like V.C. Andrews', another author I grew up reading, brings back a lot of good reading memories. Erma, and her writing, will be dearly missed. We lucky that she left behind a treasure trove of very funny writing in her wake for generations to enjoy.Rating Regarding Books The Grass Is Always Greener over the Septic Tank

Erma, and her writing, will beI read this when I was in high school and didnt appreciate or understand Bombecks wit and wisdom to the full extent. This book looks back at the effect of things we take for granted like Barbie and Ken dolls, ride-on mowers and TV, on family life in suburbia - now that I am older and have owned a house in the burbs, I get the humour a lot more. An easy and enjoyable read.
This was a nostalgia pick. Ive been rereading some older stuff Id read to see if it helped up in my middle years. I feel like I grew up with Erma Bombeck. I watched her on Good Morning America, my mom loved her books, so she encouraged me to read her books. We had family jokes around the phrase over the septic tank. So I was a little nervous about revisiting Bombeck. I didnt want to lose my pleasant memories of that time or that humor. I neednt have been worried. Erma Bombeck may have written

Another of Bombeck's laugh out loud books... while her stories are mostly about funny things that happen when you're married with children (which I wasn't when reading them) her take on life really resonated with me. A very funny lady.
I saw this on Kindle Unlimited and thought - who knew Erma Bombeck was still writing books! I remembered my mom commenting about her being when I was a kid. OH. This is not a new book - she died in 1996! They modernized the cover!A very quick read - she is very funny in a 1950-1970s kind of way, you know? Part dad humor, part old fashioned stand up with the drum and cymbal sound effect. She was quite creative and witty in her day. This book tells of "her" life - but really it isn't hers...moving
I read this dated book for a book club. At its time, it was very funny, but now it seems lost. The one chapter worth reading should be read to the Music Man tune "Ya Got Trouble." It is in the chapter of the same name. Bombeck dercries the proposed creation of a drive-in movie in the neighborhood. It is rather clever in its language. Don't bother with the whole book unless you are doing a paper on the creation of the suburbs. Just read that chapter!
I'm glad I decided to keep reading Erma's books after finishing If Life Is a Bowl of Cherries, What Am I Doing in the Pits? because this book, in my opinion, was lots better than the previous one I read! It's about living in the suburbs. How your neighbors are. What the social norms are. Her first chapter grabbed my attention immediately because, what can I say, it reminded me of my own famdamily when we would take "trips". I love her dry sense of humor. And I love that she keeps it clean. She is
