Relation Toward Books Beyond the Ice Limit (Gideon Crew #4)

Warning: BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT is the sequel to THE ICE LIMIT. While BEYOND is a stand-alone novel, we want to warn potential readers that the copy below contains serious spoilers for THE ICE LIMIT, for those who wish to read that book first.
That thing is growing again. We must destroy it. The time to act is now...
With these words begins Gideon Crew's latest, most dangerous, most high-stakes assignment yet. Failure will mean nothing short of the end of humankind on earth.
Five years ago, the mysterious and inscrutable head of Effective Engineering Solutions, Eli Glinn, led a mission to recover a gigantic meteorite--the largest ever discovered--from a remote island off the coast of South America. The mission ended in disaster when their ship, the Rolvaag, foundered in a vicious storm in the Antarctic waters and broke apart, sinking-along with its unique cargo-to the ocean floor. One hundred and eight crew members perished, and Eli Glinn was left paralyzed.
But this was not all. The tragedy revealed something truly terrifying: the meteorite they tried to retrieve was not, in fact, simply a rock. Instead, it was a complex organism from the deep reaches of space.
Now, that organism has implanted itself in the sea bed two miles below the surface-and it is growing. If it is not destroyed, the planet will be doomed. There is only one hope: for Glinn and his team to annihilate it, a task which requires Gideon's expertise with nuclear weapons. But as Gideon and his colleagues soon discover, the "meteorite" has a mind of its own-and it has no intention of going quietly...

Judge Epithetical Books Beyond the Ice Limit (Gideon Crew #4)
Currently reading the free preview - the first eleven chapters are available. After reading Gideon's Sword, I'd decided the character of Gideon Crew was not for me, but this book builds on a previous book I liked (Ice Limit), so I thought "what the hay". So far, the preview is quite good, and I'll tell you a secret: it helps a lot if you imagine Benedict Cumberatch as Gideon. Makes many things forgivable. *wink wink nudge nudge*...giggle...EDIT: Done with the preview, and I'll likely get the

You could really tell while reading this book that the authors werent that interested in writing it. The whole story was lifeless and unengaging, despite there being an action sequence every few pages. The whole thing is justemotionless. Ive read books before that I knew were objectively bad, but I still found compelling because Id made an emotional connection with the characters. This book is so completely devoid of emotion that theres nothing to grab on to. Even though the characters are

Although I'm a big fan of the author this audio presentation really dragged so I gave up on the second audio CD. OVERALL GRADE: D.

BEYOND THE ICE LIMIT by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child is the long-awaited sequel to their outstanding novel, THE ICE LIMIT. (I was one of the many fans pestering them for a sequel)! The one thing I did not count on, was the involvement of their newer, recurring character, Gideon Crew. Having read a couple of novels staring Crew, I garnered enough knowledge to realize that I did not like him as a main character, whatsoever. I was--apprehensive--to say the least, about his inclusion in the

The Ice Limit Sequel...Sometimes I just get in the mood for a little fun and entertainment and no one does it better then Preston & Child! Years ago when I first came across them, I devoured all of their individual and their combined books, one right after the other because I just couldn't get enough! They are that good & I've yet to come across a book of theirs that I haven't liked. Now some I rave over a little more then others of course, but every single book of theirs have been

Eli Glynn and his company tried to recover what they thought was a submerged meteorite 5 years ago. It turned out to be an alien life form and it is growing and sucking the brains out of divers who are trying to control or kill it. It is also sending out waves into people's brains to prevent them from harming it. How can they control or destroy it? Sounds out of this world...and it is!
