A play on Cinderella. A bit predictable. Enjoyable for when you need a break from deep thinking.

For the first 60% of this book, I thought I was going to rate this 5 stars. It had so many things I adore in a fairy tale retelling - multiple POV chapters that humanize villains and heroes alike, a cozy romantic writing style (think Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast, The Goose Girl, or East), magical items that hinted at a lot of potential, and a brewing war for our heroine to stop!Unfortunately, the conclusion felt sudden and slapped together, and also oddly religious.
