Delightful read; I was thoroughly entertained throughout the book. It was fun to read many clever words and wonderful thoughts and themes. This was my first book by Deborah Smith; I'm looking forward to reading her other works.Best book I 've read in a long time. A wonderful heartfelt personal story. Amazing characters that you really get to know. Love this author who has a great way of getting you inside of each and every person. Stayed awake at night to keep reading.

When this book was recommended to me by both Linda and Jennifer, I was like, "It's first person." I rarely do first person. But the raves kept coming so I said, "What the hell. Why not?" and got the book from my library. Boy, oh boy, am I glad I did!A Gentle Rain isn't your normal book. You won't find Navy SEALs, serial killers, or drug dealers. Wonderful characters, vivid scenes, and a good story. I would have given it 5 stars, but I felt the special needs folks in the story were a little too ideally portrayed.
A thoroughly pleasurable read by an under-appreciated author. Oh, to be able to write like Deborah Smith. One of my faves.
