German Audiobook--loved this one as much as "Mondscheingarten". Again, a mixture of love story and detective story. Diana Wagenbach's aunt in England had a stroke and asks Diana to find out the secret of their family, now that she is left as the only remaining family member. As the aunt dies, the butler carefully places puzzle pieces around that Diana then has to figure out--taking her to Sri Lanka, the butterfly island. It's the story of her great-great-grandmother as a young girl that sheI really enjoyed this book. The writing was beautiful and just sucked me in. First, I am a sucker for books that alternate between contemporary time and a time in the past...where someone is trying to unravel a mystery. This would be good for fans of Susanna Kearsley or Kate Morton. We get to travel between Germany, to England, to Sri Lanka to unravel the mystery surrounding a devastating family secret that leaves one sister and her line disinherited. Very Creative MysteryI really enjoyed reading this book. It is a testament to true love, exposes the pure reckless idiocy of racism, shows the beautiful nature, culture, and deep history of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). There are many layers to this story told from different characters and timeframes. It is a lovely novel and I found it a pleasure to read.As Always, I Wish Happy Reads to All from the Unapologetic Book Junkie 😉 !

Beautifully writtenThis story was amazing, beautifully and cleverly written. Corina Bomann has what appears to be an ease in her ability of switching from one era or character, to another. You can immediately notice the differences between the language and speech of different social classes or timeframes; the language from the 1800's easily changing in the next chapter, to that of 2008.
