A Manhattan Ghost Story (Manhattan Ghost Story #1)
I was very disappointed in this book. I always try to finish every book I start but at just over 50% of the way through, I gave up. It is hard for me to believe that Stephen King is quoted as loving this book. There are so many typos that it is distracting from the story. I made the mistake of reading the description of the book and found that it gave away the plot. What is going on with the story is generally dull, flat and boring. Save your time and your money.
I'm not sure how I felt about this book. I did like it, but it wasn't something worth raving about. The story lead nowhere, and it was more of a love story than a ghost story. But even the relationship didn't really go anywhere. It wasn't that nothing happened, either. But none of it meant anything, except in I suppose some abstract way that I guess was a little too abstract for me and I just didn't get it. Nothing was resolved, and I felt like the protagonist spend a lot of time walking around

I really quite liked the way this book showed souls caught in a loop of being dead at times. Super original way of showing ghosts. But the relationships in the book were awkward and not believable. And the book just sort of peters out at the end. This one didnt do it for me. Flat characters in flat relationships fail to get me to care enough to be scared.
I can't give this book two stars, because the first half was GREAT. Great hook, great characters, great writing. Great. But whatever hold Wright had on me during the first half of this adventure, the latter half felt...foreign, somehow. I get it - it's paranormal. It's about ghosts. It's supposed to have that eerie, slanted feel. But the feelings of change weren't due to elevated plot or uncomfortable enlightenment. Instead, I felt as if the author grabbed hold of a new slice of inspiration
A wonderful book...but have to admit I loved LITTLE BOY LOST even more.
Awesome. Moody. Thought-provoking. Emotional. Disturbing. AKA = T. M. Wright at his best.

Narrative Concering Books A Manhattan Ghost Story (Manhattan Ghost Story #1)
Do you see ghosts? Photographer Abner Cray arrives in Manhattan to begin work on an illustrated book of the city. However he finds that Art, the owner of the flat he is staying in, has gone missing, leaving behind a beguiling and sensuous young lady called Phyllis Pellaprat to whom he's instantly attracted. Soon Abner is deeply involved with Phyllis and is wholly unprepared for the revelation that Art is actually wanted for her murder - an event which took place some time earlier. When Phyllis disappears, Abner wanders the streets, and he sees what appear to be disaffected and strangly acting people everywhere - hailing taxis, selling puppies on street corners, pushing baby carriages, and he starts to suspect ... This classic novel was first published nearly twenty-five years ago: it's a hypnotic, spooky page-turner that is by turns a terrifying slide into madness and an effective love story. "T M Wright is a rare and blazing talent." Stephen King "Wright convincingly proves that he understands, as few do, how to give a scare without spilling blood all over the page." Publishers Weekly "T M Wright is the best ghost story writer alive today." American Fantasy MagazinePoint Books Supposing A Manhattan Ghost Story (Manhattan Ghost Story #1)

A chilling read with smooth prose and haunting characters. T. M. Wright goes for raising the hair on the back of your neck with subtle prose and great character driven plots. No blood and guts, just haunts your mind with atmospheric horror, being on another plane of ghosts. Recommended readI was very disappointed in this book.
