Chronicle Concering Books Reforming Marriage

Reforming Marriage does what few books on marriage do today: it provides biblical advice. Douglas Wilson points to the need for obedient hearts on the part of both husbands and wives. Godly marriages proceed from obedient hearts, and the greatest desire of an obedient heart is the glory of God. "You'll never be able to think of marriage in the same way again." -J.K. Walker, Homelife

Commentary Epithetical Books Reforming Marriage
Taken with a grain of salt, I think Doug does a good job of dealing with how we too often are satisfied with using the cultural idea of marriage. This is an attempt to define marriage as described in Scripture. While I don't think he gets everything right, I think there is a lot of clear wisdom in here for any married or planning on getting married person.

Excellent little book on marriage. I read the whole book on a long plane flight and enjoyed every page. I especially appreciated how closely the author compared the relationship of Christ to the church and the husband and wife relationship. If we all took our marriages that seriously, there would be a lot fewer unhappy marriages and divorces in the world. I definitely recommend this book especially to younger couples.

This is what I was hoping The Federal Husband would have been. Practical, to the point, and straight out of scripture. Also quite thorough in topic. By the time I finished it, I couldn't think of any area he left out. Great read.

This book gets a really bad rep. Whenever I talk to people about Wilson, many of them point to his views on marriage as their knife to the jugular of the argument against him. This is supposed to be what makes him vilified.I didn't see any of that in this book.At. All. I'm not a Wilson apologist. He and I have several key disagreements. But when he's right, he's right. In fact, this is one of the most practical and important books I've read on marriage -- ever. It's really easy to write a book on

David read this to me and it took a long time but we had many good discussions on each chapter. 2019 A book you own but have never read.

I wanted to love this book because it had come so highly recommended from multiple people. But both my fiance and I found it frustrating and unhelpful in many ways. Wilson makes statements without backing them up and uses "proof texts" that are just blatantly misused. I wanted to be able to agree with him and understand where he was coming from, but he just didn't give true explanation or evidence. I wanted practical pointers and tips, but he just flew from assertion to assertion. It's such a

No I'm not married and yes this book was tremendously helpful. Some chapters were great wisdom on handling any relationship; some chapters were excellent theological clarification; and some chapters were helpful to help pave direction as a single man.All in all, great book. I'm finding more and more how much I love and appreciate Wilson's style, and I'm even beginning to think that if he wrote a book on shoveling snow, this snowless Texan would probably read it. I look forward to more.
